Selling Photographs Online

Did you know that here is a new way to sell images online without having to produce your own prints or open your own shop? There are a breed of websites that print various goods (such as cushions and bags) and some that will print postcards and canvases to sell.

You simply upload your images onto these sites and if someone likes your photograph, they can choose it on a certain item. You will then get a percentage of the profits.

Why is this better than opening your own shop? Well – the fact is a lot of these websites will have the resources to produce the goods quickly and will take care of the financial side and the shipping of the product – you have little to worry about.

Additionally these sites already have a lot of visitors and therefore, there is more of a chance that your items will sell. One of the hardest things to do is to open your own shop and get people visiting it.

Here are 3 suggested sites that you can try (there are many more out there if you want to do a quick Google search!)

1. Café Press

This is one of the most well known sites for personal printing – you can have your image printed on clothes, or crockery, cards, calendars, CDs, hats, bags, ,magnets, stickers – the list is endless. Here aim to use anything from traditionally well composed strong images to fun occasion type pictures.

They offer various fees for you to open and maintain your shop. And the more you sell, the greater the percentage of funds you will take home. You can also earn bonuses.

2. Art Quid

This site is more focused on selling print – so choose images accordingly. Here you can also make you photograph a limited edition (i.e. only sell 100 of them) and it’s a great way to promote your website if you have one.

3. Spread Shirt

This is another fun company where you can create your own designs and use your photography. Here the designs are usually quite artistic, modern and fun so don’t be afraid to use your images but also Photoshop them.

Remember – always use the best quality images that you can – you have to optimize your chances of being picked!
