New upload rules

With myshots becoming more and more famous, it becomes necessary to make sure that people trying to spam are getting filtered out of MyShots.

There will be new rules in place within the next few days:

After you sign up, you become a regular member, however you will not be able to upload images until you have submitted 5 of your sample images to myshots.
Once we have seen those images and they fit into the concept of myshots (refer to the upload rules) are not offending or of minor quality, or in other way not good enough, we will approve you and you can start uploading great shots straight away.
As long as you are not approved, you will not be able to upload and contribute to the community.

To sum it up, there are two levels of myshots members.

1 ) Members - they can surf the website, collect images, post comments, write blogs, participate in forum conversations, etc...

2) Photographers - they have all rights of a member plus can upload images and contribute to myshots.

Please follow this link to upgrade your account:

We will add a link to your user panel in the next days.

This may seem a bit harsh for some of you members that we have to apply stricter rules, but it eventually became necessary and due to an incident in the recent past we had to develop a system that keeps spammers away from uploading crap and offending other members.

You are very welcome to comment on this new feature, and for any questions, please ask in the forums or pm me.

Everyone will have to undergo this procedure, not only people who sign up now.

Time to have lots of fun on myshots again! :)

For those of us that already have over 5 shots uploaded - can the shots we submit for review be ones that we have already submitted? Or do they have to be new shots not before uploaded?

My questions are the same as PrivateIdaho. Do we have to submit new photos or can we use ones from before?

You can use the ones that you uploaded already, no problem.
The new rules will become active within a few days to give everyone the chance to read the new rules first and make the transition a bit smoother.

I think this is a good idea. There seems to be a lot of "every day family shots" lately. Thanks for your encouragement and kind advice.

Excellent idea Kojak, but I must say, just about everyone whoe's pics I have looked at so far seem to fit the bill. You'll find a 20 dollar note attached to the back of my submission. Cough, Cough.

I was pleased that I had been promoted to Photographer status based on the five new photographs that I submitted for review. The promotion and recognition as a Photograph adds some legitimacy to my photographs and to those of the other fine photographers on My Shots. I do not, however, see those five photographs, which I submitted for review, posted with my other photographs in my profile. Will they posted or will I need to resubmit them into my gallery?
