Hi folks.
I was going to write a blog last Sunday, but I just didn't have time to get on the computer.
Can I for a moment go back to the subject of comments. Whilst there are photographers on this site who welcome advice, myself included, there are also photographers who are not used to judging pictures and would rather just say what they feel. e.g. I like it, well done, I think I have seen better, etc, etc. I am just as happy to receive "Well done" from someone as I am to have a run-down of focus, depth of field, exposure and juxtaposition from davles. The reason for this is simple. Although I value davles comments and often act on them, I also get a flush of pride when my wife who has never tried to take a serious picture in her life, says "That's nice". So to all you photographers out there who have commented on my pics by saying "Well done" or "Not so well done" please keep your comments coming, myself and davles, who is a great friend, enjoy that just as much as a run-down on all the pros and cons.
For the more serious snappers out there, I will endevour to be a little more explicit in my enjoyment or otherwise when commenting on their work. Promise.

It was my 74th birthday on Friday 3rd Oct. So auntie May is taking Ena and I out for Sunday lunch. Normally we have May at our house most Sundays, Ena does the food and I do the entertaining, so this is a well deserved break for Ena as well a treat for me. May by the way, is Ena's aunt and at 88 is as bright as a button.

Les, aka davles is away on holiday for a week, I think he is on one of the Greek islands, so I won't be seeing him at Camera club tomorrow night. I am looking foreward to seeing his holiday "snaps with a difference" when he returns.

Ah,here's Ena now with my medication and a nice hot cup of cocoa, Hope I can eat my lunch after this.
Thanks for the good wishes guys.

Respect to you all. Roy.

Happy Birthday Roy, hope you had a grand day. Now what does "juxtaposition" mean.

manroy - 2008-10-06 05:40
C'mon Mark, I know you are having me on, but, just in case thete is anyone out there who is not quite sure.
Juxtaposition: The way that objects are placed side by side. This is a favourite with Judges when they see two or more items in a picture and then go on to say how the shot could have looked better if the objects were placed elsewhere, or if immovable, a different position for the camera.
I'll explain all this to davles when he gets back from his holiday.
Here endeth the Sermon.
Respect, Roy.

A belated happy birthday Roy.
There is no need to explain juxtaposition to me Roy because I have read the Kama Sutra from cover to cover,I think it is on page 27 right next to the missionary position.

Les.

I seem to remember now, I think I sent it across the pond to one of our friends in "The New World" or even "Down Under" no pun intended.

Roy, I too wish you a belated birthday and many more to come. BTW, Les did tell me that he didn't take any great shots in Greece on vacation and that I find hard to understand. The one of the red boat, however, is super. I also wanted to comment on your take regarding what people say about uploaded pictures. It seems to me that some people do not welcome criticism and become offended about what you say about their creation. I have learned quickly in this picture business that if I like a picture I will try to make a comment on the positive side and if I don't like it I will refrain from making any comment. It seems to work for me. Take care, Mike/London/Canada
