I think this is a great shot. How do you make the water appear so icy?

I used a Nikon D40 DSLR, with the kit lens. I applied a Hoya CPL and a Hoya Warm filter on the lens. I chose aperture priority mode and set an F13 aperture. It gave me 0.6" shutter speed, which is slow enough to make the water seem silky.

As I saw, you use a Fuji S9600. Though it can go down only to F11, things are pretty the same. You should use some ND filter because you'll need really slow shutter speed (ND4, or ND8; depends on light conditions), a circular polar filter (against water reflections), and opionally a warm filter (though you can warm up your pictures later in Photoshop, PSP or Gimp, in my opinion it's better to use a filter.) The filter diameter of the S9600 is 58mm so you can buy any kind of filters to it. I nearly forgot the most important thing. You'll need a tripod since there is no way to hold out a 1" shutter from hand.

Well that's all. I hope it helped.

Caesar, don't give up shooting waterfalls. You're good at it. Its a little too late now for putting out a 2008 Calendar, but certainly you can plan for a 'Waterfalls or Waterscape Calendar for 2009. I'll buy one (smile.)
