Love the very stark contract in colors in this photo. The yellow against what I am assuming is a blue sky works very well. Is this playground equipment? I'm struggling to understand exactly what the structure is - but to me that makes a good abstract photo - not being able to instantly understand what is in the frame.

not playground equipment but a sculptural piece at the National Gallery - part of the architecture. The blue is the sky. I like focusing on a small part of a larger object - love macro too - for the same reason.

Well it worked well Farmum - this is one of my favorite shots that has been posted lately. I really like the color and the simplicity. Good work. Did you take other shots at the National Gallery?

I'll put up some others from the same day but I liked this the best of the skybridge ones. The angle was the best for interest and also the contrast with the colour of the sky turned out well. I could photoshop the others I suppose, but I like it when a shot just comes together on its own. I don't even like to crop photos later, prefer to do it when I take the shot - frame it up and eliminate messy bits.

My eye automatically makes lots of triangles out of this photo, and that is what makes it so powerful. Stark bold colours in abstract always work for me. Great.
