sweet, was baby sleeping? I think I'd like this cropped a little tighter as the colours at the top are distracting - try a B&W too, those little toes are just delightful.

He was actually sleeping, Farmum! Thanks for the tips. I like it cropped tighter as well, however I prefer the natural color as opposed to B&W.

You might have tried bumping up the ISO settings on your camera and tried getting this shot captured with natural light. The flash emits such harsh lighting that it creates shadows. I'm not sure what camera equipment you are using - but bounced flash (off a wall or a ceiling) would also have been an option to lessen the shadows and take away some of the harshness.

I think that the shot looks great in B&W - hope you don't mind.

Love the black and white as well. I too think it should be cropped tighter. These are my favorite shots...Baby extremities and features.
