I like the idea for the shot as well - especially your use of what seems to be a larger aperture to get the background blur. The shot seems overall very red to me - at least on my screen. Maybe a white balance adjustment......

interesting use of depth of field to focus attention on the foreground. I like the almost monotone look with just enough colour changes to add interest.
