Description
The awesome Milky Way from my backyard......

Canon 400D on tripod, 8 x 3 subs at ISO 1600, 30 sec, F/3.5, 18mm in 18-55mm kit lens, each set stacked in Deep Sky Stacker. Mosaic stitched in Serif Panorama Plus 1, cropped & levels in PS CS2.

LOL, thanks John. The mumbo jumbo just says that the subject's very dark and very wide, I think! What's next? The view from without, hehehe..........

Very interesting shot, star photography makes for some interesting results especially if you can get far away from any light pollution. You can get some nice colours from things that are not visible with the naked eye. Unfortunately this also pushes the exposure to the point where the stars start to streak.

Very true Dewbius - off the tripod, stars streak very quickly with any sort of zoom, and even with no zoom 25-30sec is the maximum you can get before streaking is very noticeable. You can track the moving starfield of course, but that is entering into the field of astrophotography.

In the above shot, you can see the influence of light pollution (brighter sky) at each side. Anyway, just an experiment to see how far I could push it!
