Description
I took this shot on the day that the pit was being shut down, and asked the collier to show me how he felt. I worked in a pit near by in my teens.

This is a wonderful capture that communicates the hardships of working hard labor in order to survive. Probably some thing photographers with thousands of dollars of equipment invested have no idea about. Including myself. You can feel his determination. I love this photograph. Thank you for being here to show us this.
