Nice shot of a beautiful ship, too bad you clipped the top of the mast tho...

Nice capture but I have to agree too bad you clipped the top, and the sky looks a bit over saturated.

A decent shot of an historic vessel but I have to agree about the top being clipped. The over saturation of the sky is a direct result of the image being under exposed by about 1.5 stops. This was almost certainly caused by the cameras meter being fooled by the large expanse of sky which occupies over two thirds of the frame. When you compose a picture in this way add some positive exposure compensation to achieve the correct exposure. If you have photoshop or some other image editor you can correct this photo by adjusting the levels.

I realised I had missed the tip of the mast only when I had got home, will watch out in future. Thanks for the tips, all helps and I do need the help, must look into acquiring photoshop if it can improve the final result.

David,Photoshop Elements 6 is all that you need to get yourself up and running in the world of digital image editing. It costs about £60.00.Of course you should always aim to get things right at the shooting stage but I am afraid there is no escaping the fact that to get the best from your photos, image editing software such as photoshop is absolutely essential.Just remember your initial capture is the score and your edited image is the symphony.[just paraphrasing Ansel Adams]

Regards,Les.
