Description
This is detail of a Sheep Blowfly that stayed still longer enough on the trunk of a tree for me to get only one macro photo. The vivid colours are unique to this type of fly and it is about 12 mm long, or about double the size of an ordinary "house" fly. The scientific community know this insect as "Luciua cuprina".
