I posted this in a blog about the fact that thisweb site webmasters delete photos that members post, and was told that they have to at times do this, I can understand if there is some reason for removing a picture then you should at least in form the poster why you are doing so, and Kojak also said that not only did he delete my picture but that he was going to delete this comment from my blog. With all due respect I think that is completely unessecery, am I not able to post whatever I want in my own blog? I've seen some picyures on this site that frankly should be removed and they seem to stay on but a photo that I posted that met all the rules was pulled off and not just once but several times, maybe this is not the site I thought it was in the begining, I thought Kojak had created a site were all were welcomed as long as they met the rules but maybe I was wrong as the rules seem to change as the game is played. If that is going to be the case this site will be no different than photobucket, or any of the others. If you remove a post you should at least allow the user the courtesy of an explaination.

Although I cannot comment on your photos that were removed, that is under the discretion of the owner of the site (Kojak) to remove photos. I think that he has been pretty clear that this site is for exceptional photos and should not be used to post everyday snaps. I personally think that you take some great photos Drummerboy - and I look forward to more.

With regards to your blog - I think that comes down to what should a blog be used for and what should the forums here be used for. A blog is like an online journal, it should be updated on a regular basis and your thoughts and feelings on a particular topic added on a regular basis. Blogs are generally not for question and answer sessions regarding website functionality or tools, as that is why sites like this have forums. Any questions regarding site functionality or policies of the site should (I am sure) be posted in the appropriate forum for that topic.

There are a number of "blogs" that I think Kojak is going to delete - not just yours as they do the same thing - ask questions that should have been posted in the forums. You can have a blog and post whatever you want I am sure - but it should be blog related material and not questions or expressions of concerns regarding site policies.

I hope that helps and Kojak can correct me anywhere he feels I was wrong here.

I don't pretend to be a pro by any means, however there are clearly some pics on the site right now that do not meet the criteria laid out by Kojak but yet they remain. I was only suggesting that if a photo is removed that the poster should be notified as to the reason, I do understand that it is the site owner that has the right to remove what he wants, but the clear set of rules laid out when you join is clearly not being applied to all fairly.

I see all those accepted or not accepted rulings done by superior judge without any explanations. I asked why one time with no results, I see only one way how to react if it continues - to leave the site and never come back, what I will do if do not have the answer.

Hi I just posted a photo of a man cuddling with his young son. It's not a professional photo by any means but I do have to say It's just as good and in some cases better then any other photos you see on this site. I know you are not supposed to post family photos here but I think this photo is different it's about the love the father feels for his son and vise versa. It's not just a family photo. What is the difference between a mothers and a fathers love? is that the reason cos there are a few family photos on here with mothers and children

Hey Andrey and Drummerboy. Well all I can say is that's it's probably a matter of personal opinion. Kojak may not think a particular image is good but you might. To each his(or her )own as the saying goes.

cheers!

Interesting post.

I am a new member. I've been doing photography on-and-off again for many years. I joined the site and submitted some photos just to see if they pass muster.

This has been quite a few days ago. I figured I would get a "yeah or nay" notice sometime soon, but have yet to hear anything. It really doesn't matter to me if I am chosen as a "photographer" on this site, I am using the site for tips, recommendations, continuining education, etc. more than any self-serving ego boost. Knowledge learned from professionals in such a setting is a valuable tool and should be viewed as such by all, as I felt it was meant to be.

I agree with PrivateIdaho, Kojak owns the site and by all means can do what he wants. It's his right. As a former legal newspaper editor, free speech is a right - in the public domain. On someone else's property, it's not so clear. And I do believe a watchdog group is very beneficial.

Drummerboy, I have not seen your pics or blogs, so therefore I am not judging your work. In fact, I share your puzzlement with the communication factor involved. However, I do not and should anyone else pretend to hold a "right" as to what goes on with this web site.

Kojak, feel free to speak.

Well it is spelled out quite clearly in the terms of use that things may be deleted at the discretion of the admin staff if they do not meet the standards. Have you tried asking why your works were removed so that you may improve later on.

Don't take it too personally, a lot of your work seems very good and maybe its just a matter of personal taste rather than anything else.
