Hello Azeem, these filters are for close up work only which means you will be limited to subjects just a few centimeters away from the lens.Anything that is small and/or far away will require a telephoto lens.

thank you davles for the fast response

i do have a telephoto lens a 70 - 300 mm but for bird photography that is not enough

and you need a couple of thousands USD for a better lens so do you think a combination of my lens

and those filters will give good results?

Hi,

The Tiffen filters are OK for close up work only and will only give you mediocre image quality when compared to a true macro lens. They will not be able to focus on anything far away when they are attached to your lens and are totally useless for bird photography. So I am sorry to say my friend that yes, you are right in your conclusion that you need to spend thousands of dollars on a lens that will enable you to photograph birds in the wild.

Regards,Les.

lenses, lenses. if you want an adapter - Kinko and Tamron have reasonable 1.4 and 2.0 adapters for almost all the cameras, they are placed between the camera and the lens. Everything on the camera - not too good. At least for me. I heard legends for pricy Sony screw in adapter, but did not see anything impressive. If you want something reasonable in range 500mm - may be it make sense to look for mirror lenses, on low end, but still reasonable quality - Russian Rubinar 500mm. Not bad old Soligor - but you have to look, because those babies are very sensitive to shaking - and one good drop on the ground - could mess it up. (both have M42 screw mount). Another goody in M42 - you can get old practica or mamiya adapters for a peanut. No AF - by my opinion is a + - because AF is usually locate some weird thing from a surrounding and you hit himself on the head later.
