I have an exhibition coming up. I was wondering if anyone had any interesting framing ideas. Although I dont have much to spend, I was interested in something a little unique...

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

What are some of the subjects of the photos?
What style would you like to frame in? Natural objects? Sophisticated? Rustic? Old fashioned?
How much time until the exhibition?

Think im going to go with a nature/ocean type themes to the pictures, and so i think maybe the natural/rustic sytle of frame suits the photos.

Got 2 months til the exhbition. Which sounds like quite a while, but Im sure it will fly...

I have seen some beautiful framing done with pebbles in one tone or mixed colours cemented onto a wooden frame, tree bark and twigs, crushed shells and sandy textures applied to basic inexpensive wooden frames. One frame I had particularly liked seemed to be made of "found wood" the aged/rustic look. Almost like driftwood or lost planks and it was cut to insert a picture on the back.
I have also seen a photo in a frame but then an extension of the perimeter of the photo lacquered onto the frame to make the picture seem expanded.
As well if you can find some suitable vintage frames with pictures or mirrors removed they sometimes have a lovely patina from age or can be embellished, painted/texturized to suit the mood of the picture.
I don't know if any of that is a style you're going for but it's a few ideas. Once the ideas start rolling you'll come up with a few more.
I hope you enjoy a successful exhibition. Good Luck.

I would opt for plain frames because by using gaudy or fancy looking frames you could run the risk of overpowering the images on display and it is the image that you are trying to sell.Just something to consider before dropping a load of cash on frames for your exhibition, good luck with your venture I hope it's a great success.
