If your looking for a hot shoe mounted flash strobe for your 400d I would suggest the Canon 430 EX.I have no idea what the seller was referring to.Energy efficient bulbs would give your photos a very yellow color cast and would not be suitable.

dear davles

what i meant with a flash is the big mounted flashes used in studios called strobes

the seller mentioned that digital light is easier to master than strobes

photography

and energy efficient lights with white color (not the yellow ones we use at home)

have white color

last question why did you suggest430 ex instead of 580 ex 2 for example

thank you

I mentioned the 430 ex because I was unsure of what you intended to use the strobe for.The 430ex is powerful enough for most purposes but the 580ex will give you more reach and is a little more versatile. Both units can be used off camera by using a connecting cord or can be fired remotely by using wireless transmission.

Unless you have room enough to leave all of your studio equiptment in place, studio lights, umbrellas, backdrops and all the rest will sit in the garage 51 weeks out of the year. As they do in mine! A good mounted on camera flash can be bounced, reflected and used be flash trigger to do 90% of what studio lights do. There are probably 50 members, willing to sell there studio equiptment, myself included.
