hello

sometimes when i am taking photos indoors without flash and the subject

i am photographing moves i get motion blur even with the iso set to 1600

like this photo http://www.digital-photo-secrets.com/tip/127/fixing-blur-caused-by-slow-shutter-speed/

do you think that a fast lens with aperure 2.8 can take the photo without motion blur?

Hi Azeem,
At what aperture did you shoot at when you experienced motion blur when using iso 1600?In a room lit with 100w bulb an aperture of 2.8 and iso 1600 you could achieve a shutter speed of around 1/125 second enough to freeze motion blur, depends how fast the kids are.

thank you for the fast responses

rick the link is working for me

but it is only a photo of a kid clapping his hands

i was using the program setting in my canon 400 d and using the kit lens which is not 2.8

i think the shutter was 1/25

the question is if i get a 2.8 lens will it stop the motion like a kid clapping or turning his head?

is it a scientific fact that faster lenses can stop this kind of motion?

You should use your 400d in AV mode not program mode. When you set your camera to program mode it chooses what it thinks is the best combination of aperture/shutter speed according to the lighting conditions. It does not know what you are trying to achieve and it does not know if you are hand holding the camera or if you are using a tripod. So you will have to tell it what to do and that means taking control of the camera yourself.A lens with a constant aperture of 2.8 or less will only be of use to you provided that you put the camera in AV mode and open the lens up to 2.8.
Canon make a cheap but excellent 50mm lens that has a minimum aperture of 1.8 and is ideally suited to low light photography and costs about £70 here in the UK.Check it out, it may be what your looking for and will not empty your bank account. The link works ok for me too.

Regards,Les.

My 2cents - don't shoot below 1/50s unless using a tripod you will get blur no matter what - it's almost impossible to shoot less than 1/40s.
